  • Tools needed:
    • Vise
    • Hammer
    • Drift pin (a large framming nail will work)
    • Assembly lube 1

  • Place the stock oil pump drive bracket in the vise clamping as shown. (on the gear but not on the teeth with the rollpin vertical)
    2

  • Using the drift pin drive out the roll pin.
    3

  • Remove the gear, thrustwasher, thrustwasher race, and drive shaft from the bracket.
    4

  • Inspect the drive shaft for excessive wear. If no excessive wear is evident it should be re-used. The drive shaft also needs to be inspected for sharp burrs around the rollpin hole and notches. If any are found they need to be removed to prevent scoring of the new bushing causing potential failure of the unit.
    5

  • Inspect the drive gear for excessive wear and insure that the gear is made of the correct material to match your camshaft. If you are unsure contact your camshaft manufacturer and ask them what the recomended oil pump gear material is.
    6

  • Inspect the thrustwasher for wear. If a thrustwasher doesn't not show any excessive wear it should be re-used.
    7

  • Apply assembly lube to the drive shaft, thurstwasher, and gear teeth.
    8

  • Install the drive shaft into the new aluminum bracket from the top. Then install the trustwasher onto the drive shaft.
    9

  • Install the gear onto the drive shaft being careful to align the holes for the rollpin.
    10

  • Using the hammer gently tap the roll pin in until it is started into the drive shaft. At this point the gear and shaft should turn as one.
Do not hammer the rollpin all the way in
    .
    11

  • Place the assembly in the vise as shown and slowly tightin the vise to finish pressing the rollpin in.
Trying to drive the rollpin in entirely with the hammer could result is the gear being damaged and ruined.
    12

  • The completed unit ready to be installed into the engine:
