Herron Performance worked hard to accomplish having the LT1 Bolt on Record. This was accomplished with Russ Ethridge driving the T56 with stock replacement clutch and alot of weight reduction, along with good air and great track prep. We were able to set out and make the suspension work to maximize the power that the 132k mile LT1 was able to produce. The list of mods are normal for the LT1s and the race weight was around 3100#s. On March 26, 2006 the record was set at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC. 60’ 1.59 / 7.50 @ 90 / 11.80 @ 113.9 I get alot of request for a listing of the bolt ons that were used on this car. Suspension: BMR K-member/Upper and Lower A-arms, QA1 shocks/struts, Spohn Adjustable Torq Arm with Rod end, Spohn Rear Drag Bar, Herron Performance LCAs/PHR with Rod ends. Rear End: Moser 12bolt, 4.33s, Spool, stock width. Engine/Exhaust: Stock 132k mile LT1, Hooker Headers/Y-pipe, no mufflers, LT4 Valve Springs, Comp Cam 1.6RRs, 52mm TB, Moroso CAI, Trick Flow Elbow, Electric Water Pump. Other: Pin on VFN 4” Cowl, Low mount alternator, removed HVAC, removed all interior and any other ‘stuff’ that is not needed, removed AIR Bags, SJM ABS Delete/Line Lock kit, Power Steering looped, Centerline Warrior Rims. |

Since the LT1 spun a few bearings in 2006 the ‘Rattletrap’ as we have called it since getting the car has sat in dissarray until 2008 when I began putting together a plan for an LS1 transplant. The search was on and found a local LS1 with low miles and it came with a built A4. Perfect for what I wanted to do, go quicker than 11.80 with a stock LS1. So over the year I have bought parts for the swap and began working on it and now it runs, I will have it at the track eventually, trying to figure out what kind of fueling issues I have. Stock LS1 with LS6 intake and P&P stock TB. Pacesetter painted headers with Y-pipe into a Hooker Aerochamber muffler in the stock location. I also added an U/D Pulley, MSD Wires, and using an LT1 CAI. Fuel delivery is by a Walbro intake fuel pump going to 97 Vette fuel rails using the LT1 fuel lines. Tuning is handled by Herron Performance via HP Tuners. Suspension is pretty much the same as before but added QA1 rear shocks and changed the fronts to ‘R’ series QA1s. I am using a 10bolt with 4.10s and a PT4400 with the level 4 4L60E. |
